What is the term used to describe ghostly voices caught on recordings?

Electronic Voice Phenomenon- (EVP)

What does evp stand for?

EVP stands for "Electronic Voice Phenomena". It is the process of recording audio on analog or digital recorders and hearing unexplained voices and sounds on playback. Often the sounds are quite low in volume and require some careful listening to even hear them. EVP enthusiasts classify their recordings from Class A to Class D. The Class A recordings are quite clear and understandable by most anyone. At the other end of the spectrum, Class D recordings are almost unintelligble to all but the most experienced EVP investigators. It is often claimed that it takes time to be able to hear the less obvious EVP recordings. The earliest EVP recordings were probably recorded in the late 19th century. It is unclear who first might have heard these sounds. Dr. Konstantin Raudive caused a clamor in Europe and later in England and the Americas when his book "Breakthrough!" was published in the late 20th century in English. Later EVP investigators included Raymond Bayless and D. Scott Rogo, who became famous for their studies of "telephone calls from the dead" and published a book by that name in the early 1970s. EVP should not be confused with Instrumental TransCommuncation (ITC). ITC is a general term for audio and video heard and/or seen in real-time with no playback required. Modern EVP uses computer and software technology to produce random noise of various kinds to enhance the recorded sounds. Similar techniques in ITC, leading to some of the confusion between the two. Skeptics claim that EVP (and ITC as well) is caused solely by paradolia, the human ability to find patterns in randomness. While this argument is convincing for EVP and audio ITC it is less convincing when applied to video ITC phenomena. The low levels, difficulty in hearing most EVP recordings and potential for misinterpretation suggests that the skeptical position is likely correct in many cases. Most EVP proponents would of course disagree.

What is evp?

EVPElectronicVoicePhenomenaElectronic voice phenomena (EVP) are electronically generated noises that resemble speech, but are not the result of intentional voice recordings or renderings. Common sources of EVP include static, stray radio transmissions, and background noise. Some have claimed these sounds are of paranormal origin, while there are natural explanations such as apophenia (finding significance in insignificant phenomena), auditory pareidolia (interpreting random sounds as voices in their own language), equipment artefacts, or simple hoaxes. Recordings of EVP are often created from background sound by increasing the gain (i.e. sensitivity) of the recording equipment.Parapsychologist Konstantin Raudive, who popularized the idea, described EVP as typically brief, usually the length of a word or short phrase.Phone calls from the dead""Phone calls from the dead" is an alleged paranormal phenomenon in which people receive telephone calls that they claim are from spirits of the deceased. People have reported receiving telephone call from deceased relatives, friends, or even from someone not directly known by the recipient in life. The communication is usually simple and brief, and is usually a one-time occurrence. PhysicsInterference, for example, is seen in certain EVP recordings, especially those recorded on devices which contain RLC circuitry. These cases represent radio signals of voices or other sounds from broadcast sources. Interference from CB Radio transmissions and wireless baby monitors, or anomalies generated though cross modulation from other electronic devices, are all documented phenomena. It is even possible for circuits to resonate without any internal power source by means of radio reception.Capture errors are anomalies created by the method used to capture audio signals, such as noise generated through the over-amplification of a signal at the point of recording.Artifacts created during attempts to boost the clarity of an existing recording might explain some EVP. Methods include re-sampling, frequency isolation, and noise reduction or enhancement, which can cause recordings to take on qualities significantly different from those that were present in the original recording. The very first EVP recordings may have originated from the use of tape recording equipment with poorly aligned erasure and recording heads, resulting in previous audio recordings not being completely erased. This could allow a small percentage of previous content to be superimposed or mixed into a new 'silent' recording.Paranormal groups and ghost huntingInvestigation of EVP is the subject of hundreds of regional and national groups and Internet message boards. Paranormal investigator John Zaffis claims, "There's been a boom in ghost hunting ever since the Internet took off." Investigators, equipped with electronic gear-like EMF meters, video cameras, and audio recorders-scour reportedly haunted venues, trying to uncover visual and audio evidence of ghosts. Many use portable recording devices in an attempt to capture EVP.

Is the COO title higher than a EVP title?

Yes, a COO is higher than an EVP.

Is there any machine to find ghosts?

There are many devices that investigators use to track and locate paranormal phenomena. They range anywhere from thermal detectors to EVP recordings. What they fail to realize is that the best machine you have for communing with the dead is your brain. It's what holds your sixth sense. It's like a battery... it just has to be recharged now and then.

How do you find the key to room 18 on Nancy Drews game shadow at the waters edge?

After you get the EVP recordings. You'll have to go next to the firepit in the ryokan and record it. Then go back to Rentaro's shed after hours and play your EVP recorder in the black stereo to the right. You'll here Yumi and Miwako fighting. It says she threw something in the water. Go over the bridge on the opposite side of where the shed is and go under the bride were you'll see Tekae's key. You'll have to go after hours like now. ~Hope i helped(:

How safe its to make EVPs?

Generally speaking, most people consider recording EVP (Electronic Voice Phenomenon) to be relatively safe. There is a lot of information on recording EVP and the risks associated on the AA-EVP website. Quoted from AA-EVP: 'We believe that working with EVP and ITC is fundamentally safe. It is difficult to find a single example in which an individual has been harmed because of their communication across the veil. Yes, people have occasionally been "bothered" ... We want to make sure that people do not feel that something is wrong with them if they do encounter one of these less spiritually educated entities.
