Form 1099-MISC is Miscellaneous Income. If you're required to file Form 1099-MISC, you can get it in several ways. One, send a request by mail to the Internal Revenue Service, 1201 N. Copy A-For Internal Revenue Service Center appears to be similar to the official IRS form in red. But it can't be submitted to the IRS. Unlike the official printed version sent to you by the IRS, it isn't scannable. The IRS processes paper forms by machine with optical character recognition equipment. If you submit the online version, instead of the official IRS printed version, you may be assessed a penalty of $50 per information return for filing forms that aren't scannable.
