The '95 Chilean Mauser is chambered for 7mm Mauser. There may be surplus military ammunition still floating around from Cheaper Than Dirt or other sources and the round is still loaded commercially.
Let's use the correct term. The 7mm Mauser fires a 7x57 CARTRIDGE. The bullet is just the part that comes out of the barrel at high speed. The 7x57 name means that it fires a bullet that is 7mm in diameter from a cartridge case that is 57mm long.
No. Two entirely different cartridges.
50-200 or so
The 7MM is short for the caliber 7X57mm which is the 7x57mm Mauser Cartridge. When the Rolling Block was made in the late 1890's and early 1900's, the S.M stood for Spanish Mauser. The Spanish model 1893 mausers shot the 7x57mm round. the US was on the receiving end of that fine round in the Spanish-American war. At the time, the 7x57mm was known as the 7mm Spanish Mauser round.

Based on a single source* the Model 1912 7mm Mauser, very similar to the German Rifle Model 98 was a standard issue for the Mexican Army in 1935. Mexico adopted the 7mm Mauser Model 93, in 1895, a similar rifle to the Spanish 7mm Mauser Model 1993. During the period of 1910-1920 many difference rifles were obtained, including the Japanese Tpe 38 rifle. In 1936, a Mauser of Mexican design was adopted. The design was a 7mm Model 1936 designed from the Model 98 Mauser with an external "cocking" mechanism like a Springfield Model 1903A1. *Ezell, E. C.(1977). Define 7mm. Do you mean 7mm Mauser ( a little less than 30-06), or 7mm Magnum, (a bit more than 30-06)
You will have to call Browning with the serial number.
