∙ 11y agoIt is unusual for two reasons. It was the first Disney film to have any Black Characters, Uncle Remus was portrayed by a Black actor. It also used mixed cartoon and live action animation- a technique perfected in the Mary Poppins film and now so common it is used in TV commercials for snack foods. The picture has not been theatrically released for many years. One of the songs ( from Song of the South) Zip-a dee- dooh-dah) was independently revived by the then Jackson Five around l973 and did quite well on the charts. So that"s the story on Song of the South. The movie was produced, incredibly to modern ears- in l946.
