If you are looking for a basic, readable text, the book 'Canaanites', by Jonathan N. Tubbis a good start. Without being too academic, it takes a scholarly view, rather than assuming that the Bible is inherently accurate.
'The Archaeology of Ancient Judea and Palestine', by Ariel Lewin, has a a history section and a "coffee-table" introduction to archaeology. The author takes a "biblical archaeology" perspective, assuming that the Bible is historically true, although he does sometimes mention scholarly opinion to the contrary.

∙ 12y agoIt appears that the ancient city of Jericho, just outside modern-day Jericho, may have been founded as early as 10,000BC.
The city was abandoned several times, but later rebuilt on the same site because of the permanent spring that existed. The final abandonment was approximately 1550BC, after which there was only a small, mud-brick village for several centuries. A new city was founded in the ninth century BC, during the Israelite period.
