Well, if you work on MUM (Murder Under the Microscope) you will find that the Blue Banded Bee probably does live in Caboolture River. But go onto the site, just to check. :-)

You would normally find the source of a river at high ground. Say your on a deserted island, you would look for the highest point to find freshwater which is normally near the source of the river. This is because of gravity, the water would be searching for the lowest point.
Depth of any river depends on many factors, including location, time of year, amount of rainfall, etc. I was not able to find specific depth information, but see related links for many statistics and characteristics of the river, including flow rates at different times of the year (which will indicate the variance of depths).
