You would be the BEST OFF... to get the thing from an online search. Please get that part new. It's a BS part from salvage. Don't even start looking. Brittle and rotten....Can U say it twice? Yours broke....Theirs is no better than what you have...... Good luck wit the Convert. I have roof motors if you in need. Sitting on my shelf, doing good for no one... Drop me a note ,If you would like to own them. I will take $75 for both. (Tested and pull even). The car has been crushed.
My hard top latch lock is broken just the lock latch can I just buy the lock unit
Yes it can, very easy to do, have to order a new latch from the dealer, just tell them it's the latch that locks the top down, and which side it's on. Hope this helps.
glue it with clear epoxy
fly to the sky while eating chicken
Could have a sliding lock plate, slides one direction to lock ,the other to unlock
Very simple fix. Just remove the two screws you see on the latch. That will remove it from the top. Replace with the new one and you're good to go.
There are two motor's for the top. They are on both sides of the back seat, connected to the rear passenger & driver side window cage.
The original convertible tops available for the Vett were manual lift and latch systems as available on virtually every car in the world in the 50's and 60's Currently you push and hold the button.
On both sides of the rear panels are latches with arrows on them, they have to be released. They lock in position when the top is put down and the rear of the top on both sides is pushed down.
The lever that lates/unlatches the top also controls the electric convertible up/down. If you want the top down, unlatch and pull the handle towards the back (in essence the same direction you want the top to go). Vice Versa to put the top back up.
IT IS PART OF THE HANDLE. aFTER THE HANDLE IS IS LOCKED DOWN YOU PUSH OR PULL FOR UP AND DOWN.
the switch is in the lever pull backwards or push forward on lever once released
