I don't know any animal that is really fussy about where to have sex - including parakeets.
The parakeets will lay their eggs in a nest that they build themselves. The parakeets will sit on the eggs until all have hatched. The eggs should hatch after 18 days.
Parakeets (and parrots/budgies in general) only need a nest if you intend to be breeding them. Otherwise they do not need one and you should probably not provide it or they may begin to act like they are nesting and ignore other activities.
There are Monk Parakeets in the trees near the entrance to the zoo. They have a large nest, and visitors can see it.
They can,yes maybe its a dud? Or maybe somethings wrong with the egg?
just place the nest box near the top of cage and make sure they have access to get in it and leave them alone
Pet parakeets typically use materials such as paper strips, wood shavings, and dried grass or coconut fibers to build their nests in a cage. It's important to provide these nesting materials for their comfort and natural behavior. Additionally, some parakeets may use their own feathers to line the nest.
Both parent parakeets do not have to be present in the nest at all times when they have eggs. Typically, the female will incubate the eggs, while the male may take turns sitting on them or provide food and protection. However, the male's presence can offer additional security and support for the female during this time. It's important for both parents to be involved in caring for the chicks once they hatch.
you do not need to give them any material the mom and dad will pick off some feathers and put them in the nest for the eggs to be you can try and give them something but they might not take it.
