JC Higgins was a Sears brand for guns sold by them, made by others, including Stevens. Your shotgun could be either or both- depends on what is marked on the gun.
this was made either 1988 or 1989.
Either look it up on Ebay... or have it appraised. Depends on if its original or remake. Good or bad shape.
No. You are looking at either a serial number or a floor assembly number. sales@countrygunsmith.net
Manufactured by either Meriden Firearms for Sear Roebuck) , 1907-1915, or J Stevens Arms, 1920-??(probably about 1940).
Stevens never made any high-end guns, but they never made trash either. If it has been properly maintained, it should be reliable. But, any shotgun should be checked by a professional gunsmith occasionally. If you are not familiar with a gun, have it checked before you use it the first time and if you have been using it and notice anything unusual, have it checked again. It may have been well-made, but things do wear out.
My best guess is that a gun would be equally comfortable (or uncomfortable) for either left or right handed shooters if it does NOT have a castoff. Most utility guns like Stevens, and many more expensive guns, will have a fairly straight centerline. Serious competition shooters will have stocks cast to fit their own style.
Yes, it was. But you probably want to know either how old it is or what it is worth. It was made between 1920 and 1948 and is worth $150 to $250, depending on condition.
either
Either a shotgun or a .22 caliber rifle.
I can't find any reference to a Stevens mod 320 however if it is similar to their mod 124 (12 ga, bolt action, 3 shot box magazine, 1950's manufacture) then you will not find an extended magazine for this gun. Stevens never made a 5 shot magazine for this gun and no after market companies would either. A 12 ga pump with extended tube magazine is a better solution.
The feature of an AA 12 gun is known as Atchisson Asault Shotgun. It is a combat shotgun that can shoot in either selective fire, semi-automatic or fully automatic shotgun.
