Pick up a Chilton's manual. It's got all the info you need. In short, you'll need to pull the throttle body, radiator hose, alternator, Power Steering pump, upper plenum then lower plenum. The fuel rail with injectors. Front and rear valve covers. Loosen the rocker arms. Remove the push rods. KEEP THEM IN ORDER. They are different lengths for intake and exhaust. Remove the intake gasket and remove the lifters. Install is just a reversal. Check Chilton's for torque specs....etc.
i own a 91 cutlass and did a head gasket a week later the exaust valve on number 5 cylinder was sticking so i had to have a valve job done on the heads..... this was my problem the only 2 things it can be is either yuors lifters that sit below ur lower intake or ur valves
no, if anything it will get worse, synthetic oil has a lower viscosity than mineral oils (i.e it is runnier). but using a heavier oil is not always good for your car, i.e if you live in a very cold place, you want a very thin oil as the start up can be very taxing on an engine, but that wont affect your lifter noise. if it is indeed a lifter ticking, get it serviced, & get the lifters reset. it may simply be a noise that is normal for that car, some of them do & some of them dont.
All factory 455 olds were equipped with hydraulic lifters so about a quarter turn tighter than zero lash.
The lifters are in the cylinder heads. The lifters are in the cylinder heads.
they have no lifters
solid lifters at a 012-inch clearance
the lifters are on the overhead of the engine the lifters are on the overhead of the engine the lifters are on the overhead of the engine
valve lifters? it sho do
hydralic lifters
how do u replace lifters
If we are talking about valve lifters, remove cylinder head and pushrods and lifters will be excessable.
It's not recommended to change just the lifters. The cam and lifters should be replaced together. To get at the lifters, you can remove the rocker covers and intake manifold, loosen the rockers enough to get the pushrods out, then pull out the lifters.
