- On Pokemon ruby, sapphire and emerald you get it by trading from Pokemon FireRed.

- On Pokemon firered you get it via the safari zone.

- On Pokemon diamond you get it on route 229 ( uncommon ).

- On Pokemon pearl via trade from Pokemon diamond.

- On Pokemon platinum route 210 and route 215 ( uncommon ).

- On Pokemon Heartgold and Pokemon Soulsilver ( uncommon ) bug catching contest.
You enter the Bug Catching Contest and you can find scyther there. To do that, you go to the place where you go into the national park. Then, you talk to the guy next to the door. He will say that today is the day that they are doing the bug catching contest. He will ask you if you want to try it. say yes, and find scyther, catch it, and click retire. the last Pokemon you catch, you get to keep.
