Ask around at car rental agencies. Most of them, including Enterprise Rent-a-Car, have a few 4WD vehicles that they can retrieve with some advance notice.
But finding one with a tow hitch will be more difficult (although perhaps not impossible), because most rental companies specifically prohibit towing with a rental car for liability reasons (basically, because people are idiots and will do something wrong in the towing process that damages the rental car).
You may have more luck with a rental agency that is aimed at commercial customers, such as Enterprise Rent-a-Truck, Penske, or U-Haul.
If it is a manual tranny, make sure tranny is in neutral and front differential (if 4 wheel drive) is in neutral or not engaged, install a tow bar and go to town. If it is an automatic tranny, take the drive shaft out, disengage the 4wheel drive, if applicable, add a tow bar and go to town. Or, you can always get a trailer and tow the vehicle off the ground. You need to make sure your tow vehicle is able to do the work you are asking it to do!!!!!! good luck.
Yes but you have to remove both the front and rear drive shafts if the wheels are on the ground
flat tow 4 wheel drive ranger
Some do. But most have no need for it.
tow from the front with the transmission in neutral.
If they can find someone who'll hire them, yes.
If your Rav4 is all wheel drive it is not tow able unless you use a flat bed tow truck.
you can NOT tow any front wheel drive car flat. Damage to the transmission WILL occur.
yes
all wheel drive
I was told by a Toyota dealer that I cannot dolly tow a car (AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION) with the drive wheels on the ground. So, a front wheel drive car can be on the dolly forward but a rear wheel drive would have to be backed on the dolly.
what type of tow bar you might have to remove the bumper and mont it on the bumper suports or frame on the vehicle to be towed dont for get to disconect the drive shaft.
