Amazon will give a trade in credit based on the condition and model of a PS3. It is in the form of a Gift Card and that can be used to purchase one. No one trades a new PS3 for an old one as an even trade. The trade in value is not very good at most retail stores that do take a trade ins and it is very bad when the PS3 is not working. Most places need to make a profit and have to refurbish the PS3 they take as a trade in
