With a musical degree you can teach music in a school, play in a band, be a music pastor at a church, a tutor or work just about anywhere there is music.
A Bachelor degree in Music does not guarantee a specific salary. It all depends on what work you do and how much the salary for that is. Having that degree might make it easier to be employed as a music teacher.
You don't necessarily need a degree if you're passionate and willing to work. However, you can have a fine arts degree. But normally, those degrees come from 2 year programs that are solely devoted to music and the art.
There are many avenues on which you can travel with a degree in music production. Upon completing such a degree many people go on to work in a sound engineering environment, which can involve working with artists and bands to produce an album or individual tracks while in a studio. A degree in music production can enable you to become professionally employed by a recording studio or you may wish to work freelance, or you may even move to working on the sound design and engineering of films or tv programmes etc. Of course you may even wish to simply work on producing your own music as a solo artist or as a member of a group.
