Where could one enroll in a computer forensics school?

Most computer related jobs require at least a 2 year degree at an IT college. A higher level job will require a bachelor's degree or higher. Most likely a Bachelor;s degree would be appropriate.

Computer forensics is a wide field of scientific investigation. First, recall that any device that is capable of storing binary data and is capable of producing digital data, can be classified as a computer.

Consequently, digital devices like mobile phones, Satellite navigators, game consoles, laptops, MP3 and MP4 players etc are all forms of digital devices.

However, each of these devices requires specialised training in other to perform forensic investigation and produce results that will accepted in a court of law as evidence.

To qualify as a forensic investigator, an individual may choose to obtain training in one device or multiple devices. Some Universities off programmes for computer forensics. However, it is advisable for individuals to also obtain industry recognised certifications from either of the two known commercial companies whose forensic software are mostly in use - Guardian software - EnCE or Accessdata- ACE.

A visit to both company web sites will reveal more on their certification process. Please note, that prior knowledge of the use of these software is required before you take the exams as they both contain a theory and practical aspects.

According to Education Portal, the top computer forensics schools are Champlain College in Burlington, VT and University of Central Florida in Orlando. You can apply to either of these school through their sites.

This answer can be divided into two parts. One would be the online school, though not as good for such a hands on field. The second part would be well known schools that offer this course. The best would be ITT Tech that offers forensic degrees and has locations all over the country.
