The most likely places to find copies are eBay and used book stores. A few game stores, including some online retailers like Noble Knight Games, also sell out-of-print role-playing games. A lot of out-of-print D&D products were available for purchase in PDF form online until Wizards of the Coast decided to abruptly pull all PDF sales after catching a group of pirates distributing a newly-released Dungeons & Dragons 4th edition book. It is no longer possible to legally give the copyright holders any money for old D&D products. It's important to know what you want. There are three different games that could arguably be called "Dungeons and Dragons 1st edition": Advanced Dungeons & Dragons (AD&D) 1st edition (consisting of a large number of books and boxed sets published between 1977 and 1989), the original Dungeons & Dragons Basic Rules (a rule book and a boxed set including the rule book, both published in 1977) and the original Dungeons & Dragons game (a box with three rulebooks published in 1974), sometimes called the "Dungeons & Dragons Collectors Edition." AD&D material is widely available. The original Basic Rules are harder to come by. Original D&D rules sets are easy to find on eBay but usually go for somewhere over $500.

No such program that I have found will do that automatically. Adobe Photoshop could edit a picture to be a drow, but you will have to do it manually and I am no expert on how to use that program.

There are a lot of people out there that enjoy Dungeons and Dragons. You are not alone. :) If you can't find anyone to play with, you could always try some of the online RPGs ... they even have a new D&D MMORPG, although it is a pay-by-month one. If you look it up online, you also might be able to find some people to play with in your region... although, as always, be VERY careful whenever you set up a face-to-face with anyone you met online... be aware that they might not be who they say they are, so be safe. Most colleges have clubs or informal groups that play... check with the programmers and the English majors first. :) And, I'm sorry about your friends. Role-playing games are fun. Someday I hope you meet more imaginative friends. :)

Not necessarily, there are thousands of possible monsters and creatures you could slay instead, and killing is not a must either, think around a situation is much more difficult then just hack and slash. Also it take a long time playing before you can even think about fighting a dragon, not to mention slaying one!

Assuming you're talking about the Dungeons & Dragons animated series, the answer is no. The series was canceled mid-way through its last season before the final episode, 'Requiem', could be put into production. The script for Requiem was later released and it ended with the characters receiving the choice to return home, but their decision was never revealed.
