CS Lewis was awarded the Carnegie Award, which is the highest honour for children's literature in the UK, for the last of e books in the "Chronicles of Narnia",The Last Battle.

Lewis was also offered a CBE (Commander of the British Empire) by Winston Churchill in 1951, but Lewis refused to accept. It is uncertain why.
