Also note that they had no idea that America even existed, so he had no intention of looking for Am…erica at all. ( Full Answer )
Christopher Columbus was not looking for a new land. He was looking for a new ROUTE from one known land (Europe) to another known land (the Spice Islands). . The old route was around the tip of Africa and was a very long journey. He reasoned that the world was like a ball not flat, and if he went a…round the ball in the opposite direction the journey would be shorter. He ran into a couple of continents that were in his way by accident. His mistake was in thinking the ball was smaller than it really was. ( Full Answer )

No he knew the Earth was round he just underestimated the size of the Earth. i.e He did think the Earth was as big as it is.
Christopher Columbus landed on North America. However, he thought it was India. That is why Native Americans were falsely called Indians.
Contradicting popular belief, Christopher Columbus didnt think that the world was round, he thought he could sail around the world without falling off the edge. People didnt think this could be done, but Christopher Columbus's reasoning for this was that he could reach the east indies because the wo…rld was a cylinder. If you roll up a map you can under stand this because then, nobody had discovered up past the edges of Antarctica and the Arctic. So, Christopher Columbus didnt have much support in going to the east indies. Also, the Spanish didnt give him a very good ship either. They thought he was going to die. When he got there he killed many of the natives and enslaved others. That is why we think he is crazy now, but this isnt what we teach in elementary school ( Full Answer )

Christopher Columbus found Hispaniola south of what is now the U.S. which later led to the discovery of the U.S. by Amerigo Vespucci. "America" is named after "Amerigo", though it is miss leading when people say Columbus found America if you consider America as the continent, North America, or th…e country The United States of America. It is still disputed over who should get more credit when the U.S.A. recognizes Columbus Day. ( Full Answer )
Christopher Columbus' voyages were financed by the Crown of Castile, which later became part of the Kingdom of Spain, and he sailed under the flag of that kingdom. So the lands he discovered, he discovered for Castile.
he used three ships-the nina, pinta and santa maria which were given to him by the king and queen of spain
There were no "developments". He left 39 men on the island and when he returned they were all dead. He was a failure in Spain because he didn't return with gold or a route to India and few knew he had left. He added very little knowledge to the knowledge base or maps.
Christopher Columbus treated the native Americans very poorly, hewas rude, violent and killed all of them
