Yes, David's mother was nice to him, at one point in time. Before the age of four, she was a very kind mother towards him. At that time David thought she was the nicest mom in the world, until she became cold. Thus becoming an alcoholic. After the age of four, she began to treat him like something other then her son. Her abussive behavior towards him went on for sevral years. Until the authorities were notified. David was put in a temperary foster home. He was brought in to court to testify against his mother. He, as a young boy, was given such a difficult decision that would effect him for the rest of his life. To either be "A ward of the court", or continue to live with his mother. As an effort to move forward in his life, he chose to become "A ward of the court." He was then put in a permenent home. After that he became proud to call himself a foster child. Thus continuing on in his life, lead to audulthood. David Pelzer is now a very recodnized person. Along with being an amazing author, he is also the leader of many coorporations which specialize in preventing child abuse. David's goal today is: "To help ohers help themselves." To David,"I personally thank you." You are a true American hero.
