George Washington fought in the Revolutionary War in the United States. He was opposed to war and tried to persuade the Colonists not to act. After the Townshend Act, though, he decided it was time to fight. He entered the war after the Battles of Lexington and Concord as Commander of the Armed Forces. His most famous battle was fought on the Delaware River.
