Jeremiah's was born in Anathoth, just 3 miles N.E. of Jerusalem in the hill country of Benjamin. His father was Hilkiah. Jeremiah's ministry extended form 626 to 586 B.C., making him a contemporary of Zephaniah, Ezekiel, and Habakkuk. The prophet's writings ministry began in the 4th yr. of Jehoiakim's reign in 605 B.C. (36;1-2) When the forces of Nebuchadnezzar took Jerusalem in 586 B.C. Jeremiah was freed and given the choice of going to Babylon or remaining in Jersalem. Jeremiah chose the latter but was soon abducted and taken to Egypt by the Jews who fled there rather than face Nebuchadnezzar. In Egypt Jeremaih prophesied a few more years and apparently there he died. So that is the closest that I came to finding the actual age, So by adding a couple of yrs. to 586. Gives us an a round about yr that he died. Sorry that I could not find anymore out for you.
Jeremiah lived prior to, and into, the Exile into Babylon. This was at the end of the 7th Century BCE into the 6th Century BCE.
Note that chapter 1 of Jeremiah states it took place at the time of Josiah, Jehoiakim, and Zedikiah. In verse 6 of chapter 1 Jeremiah states he is but a young person (i.e. youth) at that time.
Jeconiah (Note 1 Chronnicles 3) was king when Judah was over-thrown into captivity in Babylon. All Jeconiah's offspring were forbidden from ever ruling on the thrown in Jeremiah 22:24-30. He was to be written down as legally having no children, so his descendents could never be rulers over Israel again. Israel was liberated from captivity at the end of the Exile in 539-538 BCE when Cyrus of Persia came through and overran Babylon and issued a decree to go back and rebuild the temple (Ezra 1:1-3).
