________
The Kristallnacht was the first deadly attack on the Jews, and considered by many to be the start of the Holocaust. It took place all across Nazi Germany, Austria and the Sudetenland in 1938, where Jewish businesses, synagogues (places of worship) and homes were ransacked and burnt. Jews were rounded up and arrested by the dozen.
In all, some 400 Jews were dead at the end of the Kristallnacht pogrom, and more than 30,000 were sent to concentration camps.
(Note: Many serious sources still blindly quote the official Nazi figure of 91 dead. This figure has since been discredited and historic research now places the number of those who died at the hands of Nazi thugs during Kristallnacht at around 400)
Goebbels ordered it. It was not sppntaneous.
It took place throughout Germany, which by that stage included Austria and the Sudetenland.

The Nazis had a major problem with the Jews and this is still remembered many years later. The rampage took place in 1938 and it is called the Kristallnacht.
Society does not learn. It was portrayed that Kristallnacht was the fault of the Jews and they were made to pay to clean up afterwards.
Kristallnacht was triggered by the assassination in France of a German diplomat, Ernst vom Rath by Herschel Grynszpan, a German-born Polish Jew. In a coordinated attack on Jewish people and their property, 91 Jews were murdered and some 30,000 were arrested and deported to concentration camps. More than 200 synagogues were destroyed and thousands of homes and businesses were ransacked. Kristallnacht also served as a pretext and a means for the wholesale confiscation of firearms from German Jews
they were ordered not to interfere.

Kristallnacht had nothing to do with military strategy. Please see related question.
Hitler ordered Kristallnacht as an excuse to get rid of Jews, or capture Jews that had been individually selected to be arrested.
The German government wanted to create the impression that the German people were unhappy with the Jews. The purported reason was that the German people were unhappy with the assassination of a German diplomat by a Jew.
