About 60 Miles
William Presscot was the commander in the Battle of Bunker Hill. My text book does not tell me what happened after, but I know that he told the troops to move to a nearby hill; Breed's Hill to fight the Brits. The Brits won the battle and lost over 1,000 men while the US had lost about 400 men. Will Presscot once said to his troops, "Don't shoot until you see the whites of their eyes." This quote is reputedly from Colonel William Prescott during the Revolutionary War when their gun powder was scarce. They were encouraged to conserve powder by not firing until they saw the white of their eyes.
