∙ 11y agoCyprus was under Turkish control for over 400 years. In that time, Turks came to inhabit the island. Their descendants are still there and this is what people call "Turkish Cypriots". It is important to note the distinction between these people who are considered a legitimate part of Cyprus by Greek Cypriots and the Turkish Colonists who came in the 1970s with the intent of altering the Demographics on the island of Cyprus.
