They can't find it or human smell. If you wait a few months they will come.
Hi i know. If you thouch they abandon them because the smell of humans. It is actually not true that birds will desert eggs or chicks if a human has touched them. The olfactory sensors in birds are very small. They do not have a strong sense of smell. The maternal or paternal drive is much stronger than the sense of smell. If it appears that a bird has abandoned the nest, it is due more to false association on our part rather than any touching of the eggs or fledlings. This belief of abandonment due to human smell is an old wives tale.
bird scent i guess
humming birds can't smell

All birds smell!
Because they have a intoxicating smell which birds cant stand
The only bird that can smell is the turkey vulture - the world's #1 smeller! It can smell dead meat from 5kms away! Other birds have no sense of smell which is why they can be sprayed by a skunk and not care.
Birds do have a sense of smell. It is more developed in larger birds such as the albatross and fulmars. Many seabirds can smell fish oils from a very long distance (25kms in some cases), they can also smell pheromones that fish give off when distressed. Smaller birds have a less developed sense of smell but some rely partly on smell to navigate and to choose nesting materials. Some birds (like ducks) can smell when the female duck is ready to mate. So it is possible that birds partially use scent to detect predators but the placing of their eyes on either side of their head is likely to be the better option for avoiding predators.
The kiwi bird has the best sense of smell among birds.
Stench is another way of saying smell. Hope this helped! :-)
Cat's have a very sensitive sense of smell. Their sense of smell is fourteen times that of a human.
