Anasazi Indians
The Anasazi was a tribe in the American southwest. It was a great tribe. But, it vanished in a moment. Why did it vanish? The reading says that the Anasazi disappeared because of fire. However, the lecturer claims that the Anasazi disappeared due to lack of water. First, the reading declares that many parts of the settlement are burned. Indian tribes are burnt when they defeat. This proves that the Anasazi were defeated by other tribes. The lecturer thinks that they were holding a ceremony to find a better site and to find water. He thinks that in this ceremony, they burnt their sites. Second, the reading said that many personal items were found. Items like pottery and jewelry had 2 owners. Owners left them when the fled from the war. But the listening thinks that these possessions were left when they traveled to find water. Finally, the reading mentions geographical aspects as evidence, too. The place Anasazi lived had a lot of water. Many people wanted that land. I think the Anasazi was driven by vicious tribes. But, the listening thinks that there were too many people to support the water. Population rose almost 10 times because of the Golden Age. Rain decreased and the land became dry and finally, the Anasazi disappeared. In conclusion, these were the two reasons archaeologists think why the Anasazi disappeared.
Many reasons why the Anasazi disappeared (or moved somewhere else) have been examined and are supported by archaeological evidence: Climate change, drought, attacks from other tribes, topsoil erosion, religious changes, deforestation, and/or influence by other cultures.
The Anasazi and the Incas were both ancient civilizations that developed advanced agricultural techniques, had complex social structures, and constructed impressive architectural feats like cliff dwellings and stone cities. They both also mysteriously disappeared, with the Anasazi abandoning their settlements in the 13th century and the Inca Empire falling to the Spanish conquistadors in the 16th century.
