The Egyptians buried there dead in small sand dunes inside the desert. They still did this after pyramids for pyramids were only made for the wealthy. Also the pyramids were only made around the early ancient Egypt, and they switched over to chambers underneath the ground because of grave robbers. Most grave robbers still found a way into these but mysteriously King Tuts tomb was found, not by grave robbers, but by 20th century Egyptologists.
I know this is more than you asked but it never hurts to know a little more!

The Egyptians used pyramids as tombs for pharaohs and important individuals, believing that they provided a pathway to the afterlife for the deceased. The pyramids were filled with treasures and goods to accompany the dead in the afterlife, and they were also designed to protect the mummies of the pharaohs and ensure their immortality.

Pyramids served as tombs. The ancient egyptians believed that these treasures can be used by the dead person on the journey to afterlife/ the next world. Along with treasures they often buried pots, and other stuff you would normally need for a journey.
the egyptians buried their dead under ground like we do but it was only a few pharoahs that were able to be mummified and put in pyramids. there was also the valley of the kings where many of the pharoahs of Egypt were buried.
for their important royal dead they build pyramids with tombs within them and wrap them in bandages, and gauz etc and put them into gold coffins in the tomb. for the non-important they usually just bury them in the middle of the desert.
