It was not the Germans who invaded the western part of the Roman Empire. Germany did not exist back then. It was Germanic tribes which were part of the ancestors of today's Germans. They were the Vadals, Sueves, Alemanni and Burgundians. The Angles, Saxons, Jutes and Frisians migrated to Britannia in waves and took it over.
