This book takes place in the same city where they lived originaly where The Bad Beggining occured. The building where the ersatz elevator was located is at 667 Dark Ave. The city where 667 Dark Ave. is, is never given a name.
The Etsatz Elevator takes place in the sixth book. If you ment when in the book, it's when Klaus notices that the elevator has an up button, but they are on the top floor, so he hits it and they find out the elevator is ersatz. Hope this helps!
Lemony Snicket wrote about 2 children called Violet, Klaus and Sunny Baudelaire. The Baudelaire's were somehow related to Lemony Snicket and Lemony Snicket was right behind the Baudelaire orphans in every place they went. The Baudelaire orphans, they parents. Count Olaf, Lemony Snicket and every single character in a series of unfortunate events are/were real.

Lemony Snicket began working on a four part children's series in 2009. The name isn't revealed yet, but he said the series will be for older children, and will take place before the Baudelaire were born. He also said it will be a new series, but it will slightly overlap the other one. If you look up "Untitled Lemony Snicket series" on wikipedia, they have more info.
A sacturary is a safe place...if you see the movie lemony snicket: series of unfortunete events, it talks alot about sancturaries.
He was in the places where the Baudelaires once were. -mysterious answerer
Count Olaf's house. It's a pretty miserable place. Apart from that, no one really knows.
It takes place in more than one place actually. It takes place at, Briny Beach, The Poe Household, Count Olaf's house, Justice Strauss's house, the market (where the Baudelaires go for ingredients for Puttanesca sauce), and the theater where the play, The Marvelous Marriage is preformed.
Valorous Farms Dairy is the birthplace of Lemony Snicket. Commonly mistaken by others to be a cattle farm, it is in fact a dairy farmand the place to which several of Snicket's letters (titled "Dear Dairy" in an effort to conceal information from potential enemies, who would mistake it for a misspelling of "Dear Diary") are addressed. At least one arson attempt has been made against it by someone disguised as a cow. The initials of its name suggest that it has some association with V.F.D., and some evidence, such as the letters Snicket sends there, points to them as, at the least, unwitting allies. It is suggested in Lemony Snicket: The Unauthorized Autobiography that one of Count Olaf's associates hides here disguised as a cowfor a period of time while trying to figure out what happened to Dr. Montgomery's reptile collection. This building is supposedly burnt down, according to a letter from Brett Helquist to Lemony Snicket, in which he encloses a picture suspiciously similar to that of the Baudelaire home in The Bad Beginning.
Yes I am real I am Klaus.
Lemony Snicket isn't the author's real name, it's Daniel Handler and he was born in San Francisco, CA on 2/28/1970 and he is 38 years old. i dont think ur right on the age but it might just be u made this a while ago. i dont know i just wanted u to know i think ur wrong.
No, and the story is not true. Daniel Handler (Lemony Snicket) is just a really good writer (my favorite, actually), that has a great imagination and style. By the way, the story is supposed to take place in the 1930's, and Daniel Handler is really not that old.
