People didn't stop growing into giants and living long lifes immediately after the flood. It was a progression down to our current level where we live on average of some 70 years. It was normal to live hundreds of years before the flood, and be a "giant". But when the barrier of water came down, life spans were not affected immediately but over the course of time.
