Tikis originally come from the Polynesian islands, particularly associated with the cultures of Hawaii, New Zealand (Maori), and other Pacific Island nations. They are carved wooden or stone figures that often represent ancestral spirits or deities. The concept of Tikis has been incorporated into various cultural expressions and art forms, often symbolizing fertility, protection, and the connection between the physical and spiritual worlds.
they are group of tikis, called the tiki tak tribe (or something like that.) that steals donkey kongs bananas so they can make more tikis(spoilers!)
'Somewhere Over the Rainbow' appears on an album by the Maori showband, the Quin Tikis (also written as Quintikis). The song appears on their 1967 album 'The Fantastic Maori Quintikis Showband' and, although the liner notes don't list the lead vocalls for each track, it seems likely that it was Eddie Low singing as he had joined the band in 1964.

Tikis are traditionally carved from wood, such as koa, pine, or palm. They can also be made from other materials like stone or ceramics for a more modern take on the traditional design.
