Where rich people got their food depended on their situations.
Many wealthy people were members of the nobility, who had manors that provided them both with income and with their basic food. The food was grown on the manor by their tenants.
Throughout the Middle Ages, there were always merchants who were not members of the nobility, but earned their income by trade. There were also people who provided professional medical, legal, and other services. These people bought their food from the nearby farmers, though usually indirectly. They had servants actually handling the food. Those who lived in cities often bought prepared food, and only a few of the very wealthy had their own kitchens in their houses.
