There was only one sizable Confederate army in Geogia by that time, commanded by General Hardee.
It retreated towards Savannah and threatened to bombard Sherman, who guessed it was a bluff. Sherman still expected a big battle there, but Hardee escaped across the river into South Carolina, where Sherman would soon follow him.
