locks of love is a good organization. I think they have a site www.locksoflove.com
Actually if you have really long hair there is a program called locks for love where you can go to a Barbour shop and ask them if they do locks for love and if they do you can have them cut your hair and send it to locks for love and then they will use your hair to make wigs for people with cancer and are loosing their hair.
If you go to ' newyork.citysearch.com ' you will find their locations.
Do not try this yourself. Go to your local hair cuttery and ask them if they participate in "Locks of Love" (most places do). From there they will decided how to cut your ponytail off
A few are online and they sell your hair for cash and then donate the money you wish, where you wish. That way, it's tax deductible too. Literally, use your head in more ways than one. Earn money from your hair and then investigate a legit place to donate. Find one that does not charge for services and they actively help those in need.A website called Give org has removed, for some reason, whatever was there on a website called Locks of Love. Be aware of that. It has all of the information on locks of love. It is a link from their website. It is, a charity started by a for profit wig making company. They are providing a service, and according to this page, the C.E.O. takes no profit. As for the BBB I would wonder for what reason they removed locks for love from give. However I am not going to speculate.Instead of selling it, why dont you donate it? Theres a program called , "locks of love" and they make wigs for childen who have permanent health problems causing them to lose their hair. The program is great, because all of these kids are financially challenged so there parents can't afford to buy them wigs. I know you could probably make a few bucks by selling it, but think about a child you could help. For more info on "locks of love" and for a list of participating salons (the haircut is free).. go to that website.Be aware of this. I've researched Locks of Love. In 2002, Locks of Love distributed 113 wigs (mostly to children with alopecia--hair falling out--not cancer patients), received $213,000 in contributions and made over $150,000 through the sale of donated hair. Let's see here...$363,000 divided by 113 wigs (which they charge for on a sliding scale) makes each wig worth well over $3000.
to donate hair for cancer go to a hair salon most salons, if you ask, can do this if not ask them to cut your hair in a braid and bring it to your local cancer department or facility in a hospital thats what i did
Go to http://locksoflove.org/donate.html
I have donated to Locks of Love before and it was completely free. It is a nonprofit organization and all the hair or donations go to help disadvantages children. Some places will cut your hair for you or you can just send it in. Just put it into a pony tail or braid and make sure it is at least 10 inches long.I hope I helped. If you have any question just go to : www.locksoflove.org
The organization that collects hair for cancer patients is called locks of love. You can go into almost any salon and they will know how to cut your hair and send it to locks of love. You'll need at least ten inches of hair to cut off, but by the time you do cut that of, it ends up being another inch off. Normally hair salons put your hair in a ponytail the length of the hair you want to cut off, and then just cut it off. You can then style it. I hope you make a donation!
You can tell your hair dresser that you would like to donate your hair. They will take it and send it off to the place that stores the hair until it is made into a wig. I think it's lovely that you would donate your hair to a charity for people who can't grow hair. We need more people in the world like you.
well go to your local hair stylist and ask him/her that you want to donate your hair and she/he will gladly cut it for you and ship it to the nearist wig making company and they should send it back so you can go pick it up at your hair salon
The best way to determine which barbershop chains support Locks for Love would best be to go to volunteerguide.org. You should enter the area you are interrested in, then you are likely to get a list of local salons.
