Most Louisiana bats go into a light form of hibernation called "Torpor". When temperatures get too low they will sleep together in the roost or colony. Occasionally waking up when temperatures rise above freezing at night for a small feeding flight. Depending on the species and roost preference, they may stay in the local area, and just move to the winter roost. Stay in the same roost location, or leave and head south to another roost geographic location.
