Muslims are required to pay Zakat Almal (charity on money) for those who own wealth for a minimum of 85g pure gold or 595g pure silver or money equivalent to this gold/silver for one full lunar year. (Hijra Islamic calendar year). Accordingly, they pay 2.5 % of what he/she owns of gold/silver or money to the poor people.
