Brain "waves" are simply a term that we use to understand the electrical impulses which travel between nuerons.....the rythms that these nuerons fire can be read by sensitive pads placed on the head...and these can then be 'represented' on an oscilloscope as 'waves'....just as a heart beat, or a drum....or Baseball statistics....could be represented as a wave...It is mainly a term used to understand the rythms of the brain more than an actual wave. If you are asking where the 'energy' that is in the brain goes.....after death....well since energy cannot be created or destroyed.......this energy is simply recycled...It is changed from electric into some other form....actually this is a bit of a wrong way of looking at it since the Brain is not where the energy is stored...the energy is stored within the body....chemically...in fat cells or wherever.....The Brain is simply a machine...being ran from the bodies battery.......It is like the computer....that gets its energy from the wall socket....it does not contain energy itself, just uses it. IF you are talking af the specific patterns of which the brain cells are made....well this question is a bit more tricky....These cells start to basically die...almost as soon as they stop receiving oxygen....so in a very short amount of time the pattern within your brain cells which is like the stored memory on a computer is wiped clean.....the time it takes varies...with the most astonishingly long times being due to ultra cold temperatures....such as someone falling through the ice of a lake......people have been dead for as much as an hour under these circumstances and still revived with little to know brain damag...this is not the norm however.....normally in a matter of minutes after it stops receiving oxygen the brain has degraded beyond return.......Now there is most certainly the belief that a person has a core...a soul which goes beyond your physical brain and its memories and cognative ability....this is certainly a possibility, however so far there is nothing within the science of Biology which can help verify these Ideas........however the idea of Reincarnation would be an easy way to understand this....at death everything you were from your past life is stripped away...all of your memories...etc.....when your brain dies......and when you are born into a new body........the core or the soul of you is still there...but it is in a fresh new brain with no experiences or true memories......now there are again....some that believe that on some level the soul itself can retain memories or perhaps it is the Universe which retains memories and then can impart them back to the soul...obviously it is a complicated question with a multitude of theories.....again...this is beyond what science at this point and time could prove...or even disprove......Something like this is almost impossible to measure except by circumstancial evidence and personal annecdotes......This all gets into religion however...which is beyond the scope of your original question......However I am not sure if this is not what you were getting at if at least indirectly.....which is why I felt it prudent to mention them breifly. You may find some of the more speculative aspects of Quantum Physics may touch on Ideas which sometimes overlap with the Ideas I just spoke of....but generaly not in a general or very specific sense....to get answers for these questions you will have to explore them yourself with, perhaps help from a trusted religious counseler of the faith of your choosing....or by research done by yourself into the different Ideas.
