Earthquakes and volcanoes, although sometimes related are not always found in the same place. Although you will always see earthquakes associated with volcanoes, an earthquake can occur without any volcanic implications.
Earthquakes are most commonly experienced along the west coast of the United States as well as along the southern part of the state of Alaska. Although this is the most common place to experience earthquakes, they can happen anywhere throughout the United States.
Volcanoes are also most common along the west coast of the United States (with the exception of southern and central California) as well as the southern part of Alaska. The central and southern parts of California although the most prone to earthquakes do not at this time have a heavy concentration of active volcanoes. The earthquakes in this area are driven primarily by the San Andres and sister fault lines.
they occur on the outside edge of the country and mostly on the side of the pacific ring of fire
Michigan
I do not believe there is any volcanoes on the east coast

In the US, tornado season begins in the Spring.
Volcano eruptions happen in many places but they mostly occur in Hawaii.
They mostly happen in south America or in Mexico where the land is dry is where the floods occur.
Alaska is the US state with the most volcanoes.
Volcanoes pop up wherever they want to . . . it has absolutely nothing to do with countries or people. One of the largest future volcanoes is under Yellowstone Park in the US. When it blows, it is estimated to be able to wipe out the western 1/3 of the United States. That's where I live. Ulp . . .
The Pacific West is known for its volcanoes.
Earthquakes and volcanoes most commonly occur at tectonic plate boundaries called fault lines. The US Geological suvey has quite a nice website entitled "This Dynamic Earth" which will probably answer any more specific questions.http://pubs.usgs.gov/gip/dynamic/dynamic.html
Volcanoes do not keep us alive. Many thousands of people have died in volcanic eruptions.
