I live in Panama City Beach, Florida the Redneck Rivera and snapping turtles live here also. I added a link to an article I wrote about snapping turtles & included a picture of a huge one I rescued from fishing line left in the water.
The snapping turtle lives along the shore line of the the rivers and lakes and lays in the water at his chosen depth and fishes with his long tongue When a fish sees his long
tongue and thinks his tongue is a worm or creature and eats the tip of the tongue the snapping turtle attacks by pulling his tongue in slowly and biting down. The snapping turtle then goes on to enjoy his full belly and surface to swim or mate or hide.
