The planet Earth has had water for billions of years, which scientists believe originally came from comets that crashed into the Earth in the early history of the planet. Once the water arrived on Earth, it began a cycle of constant motion driven by sunlight. Warmth makes water evaporate, and then when enough water has evaporated it rains down, and the rainwater eventually flows downstream and forms rivers.

From rain and snow.

As the river flows and the sun's raise hips the river's water, the river water evaporates into the air. Then the water condensates and forms a cloud. Last the water inside the cloud precipitates and falls into the left over river water. And the cycle continues.
