What are particles around the comet?

What cause the tail of a comet to form?

When a comet nears the sun, and begins to out-gas, solar wind pushes the particles away. as the comet nears the sun, more & more particles are emitted, and the tail grows.

How is the tail of a comet created?

The Comet's Tail forms when sunlight causes the Comet's ice to change to a gas. The gas or ion , tail of a comet streams from the comet's head, carrying with it dust particles. The solar wind electrically charged particles, expand away from the sun pushes the gas away from the comet's head. Regardless of where its going the tail points away from the sun.

What is a comet is formed due to melting of the comet by the sun's energy.?

tail

Why are there two tails to some comets?

A comet generally has two tails, not one. One tail is due to the comet's dust particles, the other is due to ionized gas from the comet coma. Dust particles form the first tail. The only force that affects these small particles in space is the radiation from the Sun. This radiation pushes the tiny dust particles in the direction from which they came. Thus, this comet tail generally points back along the comet trajectory. Ions which first come from the nucleus as neutral gaseous particles, are swept into the second comet tail by interaction with the Sun's magnetic field. This field sweeps past the comet nucleus and carries the ions with it to form the tail. Because of the special interaction with the magnetic field, this tail always points directly away from the Sun.(check the related link for an image)

What are a comets tails like?

In basic form, a comet tail is basically the molecular waves and energy it passes through as gravity pulls it toward a planet. Simpler Terms: The tail is the deteriorating comet particles dust and ice particles

Why does the direction of a comet always move away from the sun?

The tail points away from the sun Not the comet moves away from the sun always The tail is made of loose ice particles and rock like junk. The solar "wind" is made of the high energy particles thrown off from the sun and the tail will gather behind the main mass of the comet.

Where does the energy to form the transition state come from?

The energy comes from the kinetic energy between colliding particles.

Why would a comet have a tail?
