Planets move in orbit because of their own inertia and the gravity of the sun. The sun pulls things to it, and the inertia of a body wants to send it off on a tangent from the arc along which it is traveling. Between the two, bodies will carve out an orbit around the sun.

Do all planets move around the sun or around the earth?

The planets that make part of the solar system move around the Sun. The huge gravity power of the Sun maintain all planets and moons orbiting around it on an elliptical form.

What is the reason for the direction of revolution of the planets?

it's just random _____________________ It is not likely to be random. First, that would mean that only one [on average] in every 256 solar systems similar to ours and with 8 planets would all planets revolve (orbit) in the same direction [2 to the power 8]. More important, according to current understanding, all the planets formed from a huge 'accretion disk' of materials orbiting around the sun. It would be hard to explain that some regions of such a disk could be orbiting one way, and other sections orbiting in another. It is much more likely that the planets are continuing the original pattern of the materials in the accretion disk.

What loses energy when you use tidal power plants?

The rotation of the planets slows through the use of tidal power.

What type of Chemical compound is MRC-87?

How is the sun and it's planets are attracted?

The sun and its planets are attracted to each other through gravitational forces. Gravity is the force of attraction between any two objects with mass. The sun's immense mass creates a gravitational pull that keeps the planets in their orbits, causing them to revolve around the sun.

What do the planets all revolve around?

Why do planets stay in their orbit as they revolve around the sun?

The sun has such a strong gravitational field that it pulls the planets towards it with incredible power, however, the planets are moving at enormous speeds away from the sun. These two forces which are acting in a perpedicular angle create something we physist call an "orbit". The planets and moons which revolve around planets have this effect.

Do magnetism of the sun make earth rotate around it?

No. The Sun's gravity is the force that makes Earth revolve around it.when two person of high and low power can pull a rope ,high power person remain constant and low power person can start rotating likewise earth and other planet revolve the sun

What is is a solar system?

A solar system is a collection of objects that orbit a star or group of stars. In most solar systems, a central star (or stars, like a binary pair for instance) provides the mass to keep the system in place, and also the light and heat for the smaller planets, moons, asteroids, and comets that are orbiting. The Sun together with the group of celestial bodies that are held by its attraction and revolve around it, or a group of celestial bodies revolving around any star. The solar system is our planets, revolving around a solar power (sun). We kind of depend on each other. The sun and everything that orbits it ( asteriods , planets , comets , etc. )It is the biggest system which comprises of planets revolving and rotating in their orbit, where sun is at the center n other planets like Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars etc, rotates around sun in an elliptical orbit. Till date there is only one solar system known n seen, but it is estimated that there would be many such solar system in whole universe.!!

Do stars and planets glow?

Is Sun gravitational power work on Moon also like Earth if yes then y moon does not revolve around Sun?

Because the moon is closer to the earth than the sun, so its gravitational force is stronger at a closer distance.
