This is very simple:
Up in the top right corner, there is a box labeled 'Equestrian Center.' It shows the name of the center, a button for the forum, when your lodging time is up, a button to add more time, and finally three more buttons, labeled 'Lesson,' 'Meadow,' and 'Box.' Click Box. Then there will be another screen that says something like:
Put in the box
The boxes of the [equestrian center name] center are very [something good about it] (and) ([something good about it]).
[dropbox] Duration... [/dropbox] [button] Confirm [/button]
Click on the dropbox and drop it down to however long you want your horse to stay in and click confirm.
*THIS MAY NOT HAPPEN* but you might've found a blanket. To confirm this, scroll down under the 'Pet' box and there should be a 'History' box. It will say that your horse went into the box and took away this much energy, that much morale...
And if there's another small rectangle above it, it should say that you collected something while in the box. And it's likely that that item is a box!
But if not... go in the box again. Keep trying, and don't give up. Determination is the key to getting that blanket!
Once you have the blanket? You can now sleep in the meadows! I DO NOT ADVISE THIS IF THIS IS A MARE AND SHE IS PREGNANT.

The only way I know how is to put your horses in their boxes, and if you are lucky, you will eventually get a pot of grease.
How do you get bedding in on Howrse?
A blanket cannot be put onto a horse as you are unable to buy one. You can however have a blanket which allows you to have your horse sleep outside in all weather. To get this it is a random event. you just put your horse in the box and sometimes it will find objects. e.g tub of grease, whip, horse blanket and a few more. Plus I found it's more likely that you get the blanket when you put your horse in the box for THREE HOURS.

There aren't really "quests" on Howrse. They have objectives though, and the objectives are found in your office.
