They are in random locations throughout the game world. Once you are in the proximity, a blue circle will appear, notifying you of the one of the horse's locations.

if you stand on one of the 4 horses of the apocalypse, other than Death or War, you can just sit there and attack over the edge of the horse and they can't pull you off just attack over the edge with the torch
