Depends on the make of gun. Some will not HAVE a model number, or it will not be marked on the gun. The .357 Magnum has been around since 1935. Even S&W did not use model numbers before WW 2, and Colt used names, not numbers.

Based on proofhouse.com ,the serial number shows the colt .357 as being produced in 1954.
yes, yes, there is. it is the model number for a .357 magnum 4 inch PYTHON. says it right on the box. the serial numbers are, of course, different and unique to each gun. There is no such Colt model number.
