First in the Buoy Base galaxy, instead of climbing to the top, dive down, use a torpedo ted, uncase the warp pipe, and go down. Free the green star by firing a bullet bill to its casing.
Next in the Dusty Dune galaxy, start the mission "Blasting Through the Sand". The player must traverse the level until they reach the platform near the Boulders, then feed a Hungry Luma twenty Star Bits to create a Launch Star leading to the bottom of the planet. Once the player is inside the planet, Mario has to collect five Silver Stars in order to get the Green Power Star.
Finally in the Battlerock galaxy, start the mission "Battlerock Barrage".
This Power Star is only accessible at first when Luigi sends Mario a letter with a picture of the Battlerock Galaxy. When Mario reaches the platform which normally holds the Power Star, it will not be there. The player needs to walk underneath the platform to discover a cage that is holding Luigi. Mario will have to lure a Bullet Bill over to this cage to free him, and he will give Mario a Green Power Star.

122 power stars and 120 green stars.
You don't! There are no red stars on Super Mario Galaxy 2
There is currently no Super Mario Galaxy 3. If you mean Super Mario Galaxy 2 there are 242 stars.
Super Mario Galaxy 2 has 242 stars in the game, just like the prequel. However, the green stars only appear after you get 120 stars.Green stars appear in every galaxy (except Grandmaster Galaxy). Usually there are 2-3 green stars in a galaxy. Now the objective is to find the hidden stars in the galaxy, which can prove quite challenging. After getting all the green stars, you end up with 240 stars, which will unlock the final galaxy: the aforementioned Grandmaster Galaxy. There are 2 stars in the galaxy, which will bring the total to a satisfying 242.So in summary, you can only get the green stars after having 120 stars.I hope that helped!- Ryanthelion
