Talk to the fat dude looking at the strange tree when you are exiting the town were the first gym is to the east.
you have to get the water pale from the flower shop in golden rod city then water the sudowoodo (sorry for my spelling) and fight it. i caught it but you dont have to. next, go to the right and there will be a hiker dude. talk to him and he will give you hm rock smash
