You can find it at bottom of the radiator, also there is a special drain plug in the engine body.
That really depends on what model year of Mercury Sable , and which engine you have A little more information please
More information please - what year ? what engine ?
At the top of your radiator, there is a radiator hose that goes from the radiator to the engine. Where the hose connects to the engine is where the thermostat is. There is a thermostat housing held on by two bolts which will have to be removed.
coolant overfilled? thermostat not opening allowing pressure to build-up? --------------- Please test the radiator cap with a pressure tester. Also, look for a cracked head or bad head gasket.
click on the autozone link then scroll to your size engine
The coolant is probably escaping as steam. Check the pressure of the radiator cap; look for a pin-hole leak in the hoses; check the engine compression to determine if there might be a blown head gasket or cracked cylinder head. The biggest tell-tale of a major blown head gasket or cracked cylinder head is "white smoke" (steam) coming out the exhaust.
Water pumps do go bad, but on a 2007 that would be surprising. Bad radiator cap also. Fill the radiator with it running to make sure it is full. There may not be enough coolant to reach the heater core. Cooling fan is coming on? You may have a head gasket leak and it is only going into the radiator. With it cold, take the radiator cap off, make sure the radiator is full, stand back and start the engine. If there is a gasket leak, water should shoot out of the radiator 1 to 2 feet high. If it just goes over the lip of the opening, that is normal.
Engine is Hot, Coolant is not HOThere engine is hot means above the engine operating temperature, Coolant is not hot means coolant in the radiator is not hot and the coolant is below or withing the operating temperature.i think there is no water blow out from the radiator cap if you have this problem then the following will not apply to your case.* water is not circulating through the radiator, either half of the pumped water is circulating through the radiator or another half circulates through the engine block because of thermostat. so please check the engine thermostat for proper function.
