prairie dogs are not for sale and you cannot capture them otherwise that is illegal
Actually, you can get a prairie dog from a pet store. They lifted the ban on prairie dogs, due to the monkey pox scare years ago (Which wasn't the prairie dogs fault. A Gambidan Rat had the disease and due to improper handling was placed next to a cage full of prairie dogs before the quarantine time was over.) Most of the "Mom and Pop" pet store have them. If you happen to live in an area where a pet store doesn't carry them, you can have one shipped to you. They make wonderful pets and are worth the money. Just make sure that you have the time to spend with them. They are very social animals that can go insane if not socialized properly.
the prairie dog ecosystem is hawks, ferrets, and other animals that hunt the prairie dog.
