Then oak will come in and upgrade you pokedex. Then you're ready. Go and get some max repels and register the poke radar. Put a max repel on, press y and keep doing this until you see a shiny patch of grass. If you want more on the poke radar, youtube it! However you can also use a cheat system like action replay ds and then put on the shiny code and every Pokemon you encounter will be shiny. Not as precious though when you find one ^^
